Guest Speaker: Bronwyn will give a presentation "Putting the U back into MUM". You shouldn't feel guilty about taking time out for yourself. We love our children, but we all need uninterrupted time every now and then while someone else looks after the kids. Looking after yourself gives you the strength you need to care for and enjoy your family - and the self confidence and energy to have fun on the journey. This talk will be about YOU!

May 3- Our meeting for May is on the 3rd May, next Monday, to coincide with the 4th Birthday of the Birth Centre and International midwives day! It will be held in the park on the corner of Alicia St and Blake St in Southport. There is a children's playground with a fence around it, plenty of parking, and coffee/tea at the organic shop across the road. (We won't have any hot water facilities)We are very fortunate to have Dr Kerry Peart speak about Womens' choice in maternity care. Kerry is the Convenor of the new direct entry Midwifery Degree that has started this year at Griffith University. To give you a bit of background, Dr Kerry Peart is a mother of 5, Master in Bioethics - her thesis looked at some of the ethical issues around routine ultrasound screening. Kerry's PhD is in womens studies looking at choice and control in the birthplace. She has worked in a range of birth settings in Victoria, most recently at the Womens Hospital in Melbourne in their continuity of care model. If more people know about the birth centre and the care we receive from midwives, we will have a stronger voice when it comes to expanding the facilities to provide this type of care. Please come along and show your support and by bringing a plate of healthy morning tea we can have a great celebration!
